Prep and aftercare
Sugaring aftercare, and how to prep
A good sugaring starts before you arrive and finishes a day after you leave. Here's exactly what I ask my clients to do, including after a Brazilian.
Before your appointment
- Let the hair grow to at least the length of a grain of rice, about 1/8 inch. If you've been shaving, wait 10 to 14 days.
- Exfoliate lightly 24 to 48 hours before you come.
- Arrive with clean, dry skin: no lotions, oils or deodorant on the area.
- Go easy on caffeine, alcohol and acidic foods beforehand. Oddly, they can make your skin more sensitive. Stay hydrated.
- Wear loose-fitting clothes.
- On Accutane, or using retinol? Tell me ahead of time so we can adjust as needed.
The first 24 hours
- No workouts for 24 hours.
- No pools or hot tubs.
- Keep wearing loose-fitting clothes.
Between visits
- Exfoliate gently to help keep hairs from getting trapped as they grow back.
- Rebook for 3 to 4 weeks out. With consistent appointments, hair grows back finer and slower.
Brazilian sugaring aftercare
Everything above applies after a Brazilian, and loose clothing matters most here. If you'd like something soothing straight after, ask me about the Bush Balm vajacial: a hydrating hydrogel mask I can add to your appointment.
If something doesn't feel right
Call me. I'd much rather hear from you the same day than have you wonder. 250-212-4071
